Repose Lynton Healthcare Chair
The Lynton Healthcare Chair is suitable for any health or homecare, as with its tailored design and simple fabric style, ensure’s the chair blends into all environments. The Lynton healthcare chair has been specifically designed to assist Equipment store providers, Local authorities, Care Home and Distributors to maximise budgets to stretch further. The Lynton Healthcare Chair is ideal for clients who require pressure and postural management whilst wanting to be supported to stand independently, such as:
- Stroke
- Muscular sclerosis
- Frail elderly
- Lower limb oedema
The Lynton Healthcare Chair can also be used as part of a 24-hour postural care programme and its features also ensure that a user can be repositioned to allow for optional occupational performance, thus allowing an individual to engage in activities they want to do.
The Tilt in Space (TIS) mechanisms make this chair ideal for clients with changing and deteriorating neurological conditions and those who require assisted movement to reduce the problems of skin breakdown. They allow for multi positioning of the legs to reduce oedema and fluid retention, leading to increased comfort. They can also be useful to those with low blood pressure to alter their position to reduce the impact of changes in pressure e.g. postural hypertension. The Lynton Healthcare chair can be used with either a mobile or overhead hoist to support safe moving and handling techniques for carers.
Key Features:
Mechanisms:
The Lynton healthcare chair is available with a Dual Tilt in Space (DTIS) mechanism. The Tilt in Space (TIS) movement allows the seat to back angle to remain the same whilst the whole seating system is tilted backwards which prevents shearing and friction. The Dual Tilt in Space mechanism has a wide range of positional movement options as it features independent backrest recline and independent leg rest movement. This enables a greater range of positions to aid pressure management, postural control and comfort. There is also the option of VAL Technology on this mechanisms, but only on the medium and large sized chairs.
Pressure Management Back Cushions:
For complete flexibility there is a choice of interchangeable and adjustable pressure management back cushions which enable the chair to be adapted from a single user’s changing needs or to adapt the chair to another user. This ensures greater longevity of its usage and provide cost saving, future proofing on tight budgets. In addition, all cushions can be repositioned to suit a user’s individual seating preferences and fibres added or removed from fibre filled cushions to adjust the preferred comfort. Covers can also be removed for cleaning or replacement.
Pressure Management Seat Cushions:
The Lynton healthcare chair has a choice of four interchangeable seat cushions each with different pressure management features. You can purchase one or more cushions to support the different needs of individuals who may use this chair. Cushions and covers are removable for cleaning or replacement. The Lynton healthcare chair also has the insert feature to allow for the users own pressure management cushion to be fitted.
Chaise Cover:
The Lynton healthcare benefits from a single, full chaise cover. This chaise reduces the risk of pressure areas developing due to pinch points and shear and friction when the chair reclines. Designed with a memory foam insert the chaise offers deep comfort. The chaise cover and memory foam can be removed for cleaning and replacement.
Seat Depth Adjustment:
The Lynton has a unique seat depth adjustment allowing you to increase or reduce the seat depth by 2” using the bracket system on the backrest frame. Other seat depths measurements can be achieve by also using the seat depth adjuster pad, which is available 1” and 2” thick. The Lynton has removeable arm tops which allows you to change the seat width by reversing the arms from left to right. The simple thumb screw, when loosened, will allow the arm top to be removed for repositioning.
Seat Height Adjustment:
The Lynton has the facility to increase the chairs seat height by using the height adjustment kits. These kits provide three different heigh options Standard, Medium (+1”) and High (+2”). When the seat height increases the footrest also lowers to account for the users leg length thus ensuring optimum support for all users’
Handset Storage Loop:
The Lynton has a handset storage loop placed on both side of the arm, this allows for you to change the handset to the preferred side, whether they are left or right-handed users. The chair will also have a loop positioned to the rear of the chair, this allows for carer assist only, and stops the user using the handset should they be incapable to use the chair safely unattended.
Heavy Duty Lockable Castors:
As standard the Lynton comes with four heavy duty lockable castors, these are all swivel and have brakes on all four castors.
Special Maintenance:
The Lynton allows for easy service and maintenance even when you find the chair has been accidentally damaged. The easy to remove arms, arms top and wings allow for you to order replacements and to replace any damaged parts on site to avoid the chair being out of service for long period of time.
Delivery Installation:
The Lynton has the unique feature which allows for the chair to be completely dismantled. The breakdown of the chair will ensure that anyone piece is no more than 25kg enabling for a one-man delivery process. Delivery and installation costs can be kept to a minimum.
Optional Accessories:
Seat Depth Adjustment Pad:
The Lynton has two additional seat depth adjuster pads available to purchase to give you even more flexibility to adjust the chair. These can be used to achieve further adjustments by using them to alter the seat depth with a choice of two sets of detachable adjuster pads, 25.4mm (1")or 50.8mm (2"). The below Seat depth chart shows the flexibility available.
The seat depth should be long enough to support the upper part of the legs whilst allowing the back to rest comfortably on the backrest. If the seat is too long the user is likely to slouch in the chair to get their feet
on the floor, which puts extra pressure on their lower spine, if too short it will cause additional pressure on the thighs risking potential skin breakdown.
Seat Height Adjustment:
For a taller user the seat height and leg rest length can be adjusted. This will ensure the user’s feet can be placed flat on the floor and that they have the correct leg rest length to support the legs. The height adjusters add 254mm (1") and 508mm (2”) to the seat height.
Headrests:
There are five headrests to choose from, all of which come with a weighted tab allowing them to fit over the top cushions. For further details on each of these options please refer to the Headrest Section.

- Small head pillow
- Small profile headrest
- Large profile headrest

Back Cushions:
Waterfall:
Individual fibre filled waterfall cushions, each of which are fully adjustable to accommodate maximum postural support. The waterfall back can be useful for those with mild Kyphosis, Scoliosis and reduced muscle mass on their back.
Support Lateral:
A foam filled back providing firmer lateral support with a soft fibre filled headrest. The firm lateral support maintains midline trunk alignment which can be useful for those post Stroke or early to mid-stages of neurological conditions.
Adjustable Support Lateral:
An adjustable structured foam filled back providing firmer lateral support with a soft fibre filled headrest. The firm lateral support maintains midline trunk alignment giving more lateral support and mild positioning. This can be useful for those post Stroke or early to mid-stages of neurological conditions.
T back (using Waterfall back):
A T back style can be achieved by using the waterfall back cushions. The middle and bottom waterfall can easily be removed and rotated sidewards allowing the T shape to be formed. The T back can be useful for those with mild Kyphosis, Scoliosis and reduced muscle mass on their back.
Seat Cushions:
Easiform:
For standard seating, our softest foam cushion with high quality Reflex foam filler for gentle comfort.
Viscoform:
For those who have good posture and mobility but are seated for greater than one hour at a time and require pressure relief and supported comfort. This cushion has a high-density foam base which offers a supportive and firm seat base with a top layer of memory foam to allow immersion into the cushion, giving stability and a large surface area to reduce pressure levels.
Liquiform:
For those who have good posture and mobility but sit for long periods of time and require pressure relief and supported comfort. Recommended for people with limited muscle bulk or at risk of excessive weight loss. This cushion has a high-density foam which offers a supportive and firm seat base. The foam is topped with a fluid liquid gel in a soft silicone cover which provides a high level of pressure relief. The liquid gel helps to dissipate heat and constantly adapts to the user’s movement.
Dynaform:
For those at very high risk of developing pressure sores or a history of sores where the highest priority is to prevent further pressure damage. The Dynaform cushion is a dynamic alternating air cushion, which constantly changes the air levels within its air cells to recreate the effect of normal body movements, which provides constant pressure redistribution to prevent pressure build up.
- Minimum weight of user 40 kg (6 stone 4lbs)
- Maximum weight of user 121 kg (19 stone)
Headrest Cushions:
Head Roll:
The head roll is useful to reduce depth for anyone with reduced neck extension or needing to keep their head in a neutral position for tasks such as eating or drinking whilst maximising comfort and reducing effort.
Small Head Pillow:
The small head pillow provides additional comfort for those who may require a softer surface to rest on whilst stopping hyper-extension at the neck when reclined or tilted.
Small Profile Headrest:
Similar to the large profile headrest but support is focused more on the head and neck.
Large Profile Headrest:
This headrest provides a combination of lateral support at the head, neck and shoulders whilst offering additional comfort and reducing neck extension.
Midline Headrest:
The midline headrest provides postural support for those with some form of midline deficit, following a stroke resulting in proprioceptive deficit or unilateral neglect for example. It is also useful for those with reduced lateral muscle strength or tolerance (such as sternocleinomastoid).
Mechanisms:
Single Tilt in Space/Dual Tilt in Space/Standard Dual Motor DTIS and STIS (Common features):
The Tilt in Space movement features on both these mechanisms. It allows the seat to back angle to remain the same whilst the whole seating system is tilted backwards. This ensures that the angle of the hips, knees and ankles remain unaffected and the weight on the Ischial Tuberosities is reduced by redistributing the weight through the back. This constant angle also prevents shear and friction during movement.
This feature can also help when transferring someone in a sling as it can support better pelvic positioning by using gravity to position the user in the back of the chair in the optimal position.
Both these mechanisms have a rise position. As the chair rises the seat tilts forward slightly, transferring the weight to the knees whilst taking away the pressure from your hips thus allowing you to walk away more easily from the chair. The seat angle can be changed to provide further support by choosing the VAL Technology.
Safety Devices:
Handset Standard Feature:
This chair comes standard with the quick release handset located at the rear of the arm, this allows for the power to the handset to be disconnected to ensure the chair cannot be used.
Accupak Rechargeable Battery System:
The Accupak power pack enables you to use the chair away from a power supply. The battery provides an average of up to 100 adjustment cycles and will need recharging regularly to retain the quality of usage. It can be charged by simply plugging it in. The system sits out of sight under the chair and the charging outlet is built into the side of the chair.
Please note that the Accupak is not compatible with the Reading Lamp.
20 Cycle Back Up Unit:
This back up system comes as stand-alone unit that can carry out up to 20 chair adjustments. It should only be used as an emergency back-up system.
Enclosure Skirt:
The enclosure skirt hides the mechanism when the chair is either in the full rise or recline positions. This has been designed to stop small pets entering the mechanism whilst in the recline or rise positions.
